Uniformed Protective Services
I’m really enjoying the fitness of the course and being able to link that back to fitness lessons. The facilities at the college are quite nice, you’re able to go down to the gym and they’ve got basketball hoops and football nets and mats so you can do different martial arts, but then you can to the learning resource centre in the library to get books.
Uniformed Protective Services - Level 3
I’m enjoying the fitness element of the course as we’ve got some new facilities we’re using which has allowed us to do a lot more and improve our fitness faster. We recently got more weights and benches to do bench press, and it’s allowed us to make the lessons more interesting.
Travel and Tourism - Level 3
I enjoy this course as it gives you a lot of choices to experience travelling. There’s event management where you get to design events, but there’s also travel opportunities such as cabin crew. We have part of a plane outside which gives students a chance to experience what it would be like working within a plane, and our travel agency is where students get to act as if they were a travel advisor.
Performing Arts - Level 3
We’ve just finished the show Golden Oldies, and it’s been really fun doing rehearsals and getting to see the whole process of being within a musical. There’s the Create Theatre which is a very nice theatre, alongside three studios with big dance mirrors and bars for ballet.
Hospitality and Catering - Level 3
Coming from Level 2 to Level 3, I get to do more including cooking a lot more fun food, and get a lot more responsibility which is really good. At West Notts, we have Refined, our restaurant, which is amazing. In my area (the kitchens), we’ve got three main kitchens: Kitchen one is where you run service for the food, and kitchens two and three are for prep for service and for workshops where you get to develop dishes.
T Level in Health
Currently, I’m enjoying getting to know a lot of knowledge and understanding what we do in healthcare and how to implement that into practice. Our facilities are really good. We’ve got the ward that helps us put into practice what we’re learning in class, so if we’re learning about observations, we then learn how to actually do them on patients that are simulated for us to practice.
Esports - Level 3
I’m enjoying all of our modules as well as extracurricular stuff that are tutors are trying to get us more involved with. We try and expand not only in gaming, but to other industries. We have our wonderful esports room fitted for any type of gaming. They can practically run any game, any program you want.
Level 3 Esports
Currently, I’m enjoying the branding aspect as well as the shoutcasting as it’s just involved and very fun. Within the broadcasting room, we have he whole setup at the back where we can monitor and change things in the stream, and then behind there is where we have the shoutcasting room where we have people commentate over the games and it all works together as one big production.
T Level Education and Early Years (Early Years or Assisting Teaching)
I think the best part about the course is going to work placement and getting a hands-on experience in the school setting. Last year, we went to the nursery world convention in London which helped us to gather an idea of different strategies that they use in the early years setting.
Digital, Computer Science and IT
My current favourite subject is cyber security and looking at how people could potentially protect systems, how they’re going to attack, different attack and defence methodologies. The computer science equipment is really a grade above with access to high-powered computing systems that allow us to do a wide variety of things from program to 3D modelling.
Film and TV - Level 3
I’m enjoying the film making side and being able to use all the equipment the college has. We recently got black magic pocket cinemas which are a massive upgrade from the DSLRs. The TV Studio is great as in the first year you run the college tv show, and having a full-on room for it is brilliant.
Art and Design - Level 3
I'm enjoying the practical side of the course. I think getting on the sewing machines and actually making stuff is quite a rewarding experience. There's plenty of industrial sewing machines and overlockers with plenty of space for pattern cutting and a dark room for screen printing.
Art and Design - Level 3
I'm enjoying picking up a lot of new skills and technical abilities in digital photography. There's a variety of facilities including a photography studio where we photograph our projects, a screen printing room where we do mono printing, linear printing and screen printing, and a fine art studio where we can paint and draw.
We’ve got a great student support network offering advice and guidance on careers and future employment, finance, health and welfare, additional learning support and much more.
