The Corporation Board is supported by several specialist committees, each with a defined remit to ensure effective oversight, accountability, and continuous improvement across the college. These committees provide expert advice and scrutiny in key areas, enabling the Corporation to fulfil its governance responsibilities with transparency and rigour. - Audit Committee
The Audit Committee advises the Corporation Board on internal control, risk management, and governance arrangements. Its role includes strengthening the effectiveness of internal controls, enhancing confidence in the fairness of financial reporting, and ensuring high standards of corporate governance.
The Committee also recommends the appointment of the college’s internal and external auditors and oversees a programme of reviews covering financial statements, financial management processes, student record information, franchising, and other key areas.

- Finance and Estates Committee
The Finance and Estates Committee monitors the financial position of the college through bi-monthly reviews. It advises the Corporation Board on the annual budget and year-end accounts, and makes recommendations on capital expenditure, investments, and borrowing.
Its remit also includes reviewing franchise arrangements and setting tuition fees, ensuring that financial decisions are sustainable and aligned with the college’s strategic priorities.

- Standards Committee
The Standards Committee advises the Corporation Board on matters of quality and academic standards. It reviews improvement strategies, performance outcomes, verification processes, complaints, and disciplinary matters.
The Committee also evaluates the annual self-assessment report and monitors performance against national benchmarks. Its work includes ongoing target setting and performance monitoring, as outlined in its Terms of Reference.

- Workforce Development Committee
The Workforce Development Committee advises the Corporation Board on staffing matters, including staff development, training, equality reporting, and workforce policies. It considers data and compliance relating to the Gender Pay Gap and the Public Sector Equality Duty.
This smaller committee, which includes staff representatives, meets three times per year to ensure that workforce matters remain central to the college’s governance.
