At West Notts College, every 16–18-year-old student follows a personalised study programme designed to help you build the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed for further study, university, or employment. You'll leave college not just qualified, but confident and career-ready.
Each full-time programme includes four key elements...
Your main qualification
This is the course you’ve chosen such as a vocational qualification, T Level, or A Levels. We offer a wide range of subjects to match your interests and career goals.
English and Maths
Achieving at least a grade 4 (C) in GCSE English and Maths is essential for your future.
- If you haven’t yet achieved this, don’t worry, we’ll support you to continue studying these alongside your main course.
- You’ll be placed in a class that matches your current level.
- These sessions are timetabled around your main qualification.
(Additional English and Maths are not required for A Level or T Level students.)
Work placement
Work placements are a vital part of your programme, helping you apply what you learn in college to a real workplace.
- Gain valuable career insights
- Develop key skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork
- Improve your CV and employability
- In some cases, experience job applications or interviews
Placement requirements:
- Level 2/3 vocational courses – minimum of 35 hours (1 year)
- T Levels – minimum of 315 hours (over 2 years)
Enrichment activities
These activities go beyond your qualification and help you grow personally and professionally.
Opportunities include:
- Tutorials and enterprise projects
- Voluntary work and fundraising
- Charity initiatives
- External visits and trips
Enrichment helps build confidence, communication, and teamwork and looks great on CVs and UCAS applications.
