Shape the future of your industry by helping young people gain the skills your business needs.

T Levels are a new, high-quality qualification for 16–19-year-olds, developed in partnership with employers to prepare young people for skilled employment, apprenticeships or further study. Each two-year T Level is equivalent to three A Levels and combines classroom learning with essential industry experience, giving students the knowledge, behaviours and practical skills employers need.

As an employer, you play a vital role in shaping the workforce of the future. By offering a 45-day industry placement, you can give a student the chance to put their learning into practice while supporting your organisation with fresh talent and ideas. You can also work alongside us to influence the curriculum and ensure students gain the right skills for your sector.

FAQs

  • What are the benefits to my business?

Hosting a T Level student can bring fresh perspective into your organisation, as they bring new ideas and up-to-date learning into your workplace. Your staff will gain opportunities to mentor and develop coaching skills, while students provide valuable support with daily operations. Offering placements also helps diversify your workforce and gives you early access to young people with the potential to become your future employees. Many employers find that T Level placements act as a pipeline into apprenticeships or junior roles.

  • What do I need to provide?

A T Level industry placement is longer and more structured than traditional work experience. It lasts for a minimum of 315 hours (around 45 days), though some subjects may require more. During this time, the student should have the opportunity to develop real workplace skills, contribute meaningfully to your organisation, and build confidence in their chosen industry.

  • What job roles or industries are suitable?

We currently have T Level students looking for placements in the following sectors:

    • Agriculture, Environmental and Animal Care
    • Business and Administration
    • Construction
    • Creative and Design
    • Digital
    • Engineering
    • Education and Early Years
    • Health and Science.

If you’re unsure whether your business can offer a suitable placement, we’re happy to discuss this with you.

  • How much does it cost?

T Level placements are part of a government-funded programme, so there is no cost to host a student. While you don’t need to pay them, you may choose to offer payment if you wish. The only commitment required is your time in planning, training and supervising the placement – with full support from the college.

  • What support will be available?

We’ll work with you to ensure the placement is successful. From initial planning to ongoing support, you’ll have guidance at every stage. Our dedicated team will help with paperwork, check in regularly, and make sure the experience is positive for both you and the student.

  • Am I expected to employ the student at the end?

There’s no obligation to offer ongoing employment, but many employers find that they don’t want to lose their student once the placement is over. T Levels provide an excellent opportunity to spot future talent and build a strong recruitment pipeline.
