About us
West Notts College is very successful further education college, serving the needs of the communities of Mansfield, Ashfield, and the surrounding towns and villages across a number of districts including Bolsover and Newark and Sherwood.
Campuses
The college operates from ten campuses right across the local area providing high quality and inclusive learning opportunities that help the local community to thrive. The college is rightly very proud of its exceptional reputation, strong innovative partnerships and the impact that it has on the area’s regeneration and prosperity.
The college provides education and training opportunities for close to 12,000 full and part-time students and apprentices and works with employer partners to ensure that local businesses can grow, that local communities are equipped with the skills needed for success and that ultimately the local towns can prosper.
Our mission is simple: to be the college our communities need us to be. We passionately believe in the power of education to change lives, open doors, and create opportunities. We’re passionate about helping every student realise their potential and incredibly proud of the inclusive and welcoming environment we have created.
Our core focus is on simultaneously developing individuals to be great employees, whilst working with employers to help create great opportunities for them to move into. We are determined to ensure that our students leave us with the technical and transferable skills they need to take advantage of local employment, to equip then with the confidence to become local business owners in their own right and pursue higher level study.
We work incredibly hard on developing innovative partnerships that enable us to achieve these ambitions, this includes a unique and award-winning collaboration with Nottingham Trent University to bring transformative higher education to our local communities. A key player in the development of our towns, these partnerships will see well over £200m of public sector investment in the regeneration of both Mansfield and Ashfield.
Our commitment to high quality education has seen us invest heavily in our estate and our facilities for learning. This includes the investment in industry standard practical spaces for all of our vocational provision. This, combined with the inclusion of real project work for many of our full-time students, means that the college is often the first port of call for a local business wanting to recruit local talent.
We believe we have created something truly special here at the college, an environment where every student, regardless of the barriers they may face, can thrive, where our curriculum continuously evolves to meet the needs of business and the wider world and where people can be themselves without judgement.
