Performing Arts - Level 3

We’ve just finished the show Golden Oldies, and it’s been really fun doing rehearsals and getting to see the whole process of being within a musical. There’s the Create Theatre which is a very nice theatre, alongside three studios with big dance mirrors and bars for ballet.

We went on a trip to London where we saw The Mousetrap and the Phantom of the Opera which was really cool.

We took part in an industry week where a dance teacher came in and taught us ballroom dancing, and a magician came in to talk to us about being a part of the performance industry.

The tutors are really nice, they make the college experience even better because they just especially with the musical theatre teachers, they just make it a very nice and supportive environment and if you don’t understand a dance move they will help you with it and talk you through it.

For my work placement, I’ve done teaching as an assistant director at a choir I’m part of. They’ve got a little choir with little kids who I helped look after and taught them singing skills. I’ve also done tech within the Create Theatre including doing the lighting for shows.
