What is the IT for the Terrified course?

The IT for the Terrified course at West Notts College is a FREE adult course designed for people who have little or no experience using computers. If technology feels intimidating or you're worried about "pressing the wrong button", this supportive course will help you build confidence from the very beginning.

Delivered in small, friendly classes at the Old Town Hall in Mansfield, you'll learn essential digital and IT skills at your own pace with guidance from experienced tutors. No previous knowledge is required, making it the ideal first step into digital learning.

If you've been away from education for a while, don't worry. Our tutors specialise in supporting adults returning to learning and will guide you throughout your journey.


Who should study the IT for the Terrified course?

This course is ideal for adults aged 19 and over who:

  • Have little or no computer experience
  • Feel nervous about using technology
  • Want to build confidence with digital devices
  • Need basic IT skills for everyday life
  • Are returning to education after a break
  • Want to prepare for further digital learning.

No previous IT knowledge is required.


What will you learn on the IT for the Terrified course?

During this beginner-friendly course, you'll learn:

  • Basic computer and digital skills
  • How to use a computer confidently
  • Keyboard and mouse skills
  • Understanding common digital terminology
  • Basic internet skills
  • Practical IT skills for everyday life
  • How to build confidence using technology safely.

On completion, your tutor will discuss suitable progression opportunities.

Classes take place:

  • Fridays, 9.30am to 11.30am

This course is FREE.


How is the IT for the Terrified course delivered?

The course is delivered through face-to-face sessions in small, supportive adult-only classes at the Old Town Hall, Mansfield.

Lessons are practical and hands-on, allowing you to learn at your own pace with individual guidance from experienced tutors.
