What is the Introduction to Digital Skills course?

The Introduction to Digital Skills course at West Notts College is a FREE adult course that provides a practical introduction to the essential digital skills needed for everyday life, work and further learning.

You'll learn how to use Microsoft Office applications, browse the internet confidently and stay safe online, all within a friendly and supportive adult learning environment.

The course is delivered in small groups, allowing you to learn at your own pace with support from experienced tutors.


Who should study the Introduction to Digital Skills course?

This course is suitable for adults aged 19 and over who:

  • Want to improve their digital confidence
  • Need basic computer skills for work or everyday life
  • Have limited experience using Microsoft Office
  • Want to learn how to use the internet safely
  • Are returning to education after a break.

No previous experience is required.


What will you learn on the Introduction to Digital Skills course?

You'll develop practical digital skills including:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Internet browsing
  • Online safety and cyber security
  • Protecting personal information online
  • Using digital tools confidently
  • Essential computer skills for work and everyday life.

After completing the course, you can progress onto Next Steps in Digital Skills.

  • Monday 15 March to Monday 21 June 2027

  • Mondays, 2.00pm to 4.00pm

This course is FREE.

The course is delivered face-to-face at the Old Town Hall, Mansfield, through small-group practical sessions with guidance from experienced tutors.
