Are you ready to give five-star service? Our hospitality and catering courses are designed to prepare you for a real working environment through our commercial fine dining restaurant’s industry-standard kitchens.
Our full-time students work closely with tutors who’ve worked in high-pressure catering environments, passing on a wealth of experience and advice to students who are keen to learn.
As a full-time student, you'll get the opportunity to take part in events to showcase your skills and talents, including fine-dining themed evenings and charity fundraisers.
Once you have gained enough experience, you’ll get to train in a real working kitchen, serving members of the public. The college’s fine dining restaurant, Refined, has recently been awarded the Travellers’ Choice Award through Tripadvisor – placing us in the top 10% of restaurants worldwide!
We support sustainability in the restaurant through our very own farm to fork garden, which is attached to the restaurant for you to work in.
Refined, our celebrated restaurant, has become one of the college’s most remarkable success stories, ranked as the third-best restaurant in Mansfield on Tripadvisor. Refined is a winner of the Nottinghamshire Business Awards for Education and Business Partnership, garners a shower of glowing 5-star reviews, and carries the coveted recommendation of Restaurant Guru 2020. Prepare to embark on a culinary journey as Refined offers a range of dining experiences, from themed nights to exquisite fine-dining encounters. Find out more about Refined.

Through our exciting partnerships, our full-time students receive training sessions on food manufacturing, British game, cocktail making, brand standards and franchises, and wine education, alongside work placements. Each year, we also take over Thoresby Hall Hotel for a week to give full-time students the experience of working in a luxury hotel.

Hospitality and Catering - Level 3
Coming from Level 2 to Level 3, I get to do more including cooking a lot more fun food, and get a lot more responsibility which is really good. At West Notts, we have Refined, our restaurant, which is amazing. In my area (the kitchens), we’ve got three main kitchens: Kitchen one is where you run service for the food, and kitchens two and three are for prep for service and for workshops where you get to develop dishes.
