Barbering - Level 2

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering has been designed to develop barbering skills to a high level of occupational ability and will prepare you to enter the barbering sector.
You will develop knowledge, understanding and skills to enable you to advise and consult with customers on how they can achieve their desired look as well as the type of hair cut and facial hair styling that would be most suitable for them. You will also learn how to work in a safe manner for both yourself and your clients.
What will I study?
- Client consultation for hair services
- Health and safety
- Cut hair using barbering techniques
- Cut facial hair
- Colour and perming (college certificates).
- Entry requirements
- GCSE English Language and Maths at grade 3-9
OR
- Successful completion of a relevant Level 1 course.
You will also need to undertake a dexterity test.
If you are not studying a traditional GCSE programme, we accept alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and vocational courses. If you are not planning on sitting GCSE exams, we can also support you with completing an English Language and Maths assessment. Please contact our admissions team for further details:

Applicants aged over 19
- If you don't meet the listed entry requirements, you may still be accepted with relevant experience, a strong portfolio, and a commitment to the subject.
- Assessment
- You will be assessed by an ongoing theory and practical assessment that will be carried out on paying clients within the commercial salon
- You will collate and present an evidence portfolio and also be assessed through exams set by the awarding body.
