Overview

This adult-only (19+) part-time course is ideal if you are new to business and accounting or looking to build confidence before progressing to higher-level study.

This qualification develops essential business and numerical skills that are highly valued in the workplace. You will gain an understanding of:

How different organisations operate
How to contribute effectively in the workplace
How businesses process sales and purchases, including the associated documents and procedures

You will also build confidence in core workplace maths skills such as decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios and proportions, and how to apply them in real business scenarios.

This course provides a strong foundation for progression to Level 2 AAT qualifications and further study in accounting or business.
Do not worry if you have been out of education for some time. Our tutors have many years of experience supporting adult learners back into the classroom and will guide you every step of the way. You will study in small, supportive classes alongside other like-minded adults, creating a relaxed and encouraging learning environment.

Using numbers in business

Perform simple business calculations
Calculate decimals, fractions, percentages, proportions and ratios
Use tools and techniques to present numerical data.

Fee - £450

You will also need to purchase an AAT student membership at the appropriate level for your course. The membership fee lasts for the whole duration of the qualification. Please visit aat.org.uk for current membership fees and payment information.

Entry requirements
This course is only available to adults aged 19+.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you will need basic working maths knowledge and be able to communicate in a classroom environment.
If you are aged 16-18 and wishing to pursue a career in accounting, please consider the Accounting and Business - Level 2/3 course or an apprenticeship.
Assessment
An external exam on week six of the course.
All classes are mandatory and failing to attend a class will prevent you from being entered into the exam.
