The AAT Business Skills Level 1 course is a part-time, adult-only qualification designed to help you develop practical business and numerical skills that employers value. Whether you are new to business and accounting, returning to education after a break, or looking to build confidence before progressing to higher-level study, this course provides an excellent starting point.
You will gain an understanding of how businesses operate, how to contribute effectively in the workplace, and how businesses process sales and purchases, including the associated documents and procedures. The course will also help you build confidence in core workplace maths skills such as decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios and proportions, and how to apply them in real business scenarios.
The successful completion of this course provides a strong foundation for progression to AAT Level 2 accounting and bookkeeping qualifications, alongside business qualifications.

The course fee is £450.
You will also need to purchase an AAT student membership at the appropriate level for your course. The membership fee lasts for the whole duration of the qualification. Please visit aat.org.uk for current membership fees and payment information.
The course is delivered on a part-time basis in small, supportive classes designed specifically for adult learners.
You will study alongside other like-minded adults in a relaxed and encouraging environment, with expert support from tutors who have extensive experience helping learners return to education and will guide you every step of the way.
Classes currently take place on Thursdays from 9.30am-4pm, making the course suitable for people looking to fit their studies around existing work or family and personal commitments.

Starting something new can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. From careers guidance to mental health and wellbeing, we’re here to support you before you apply and throughout your time with us.
This course is only available to adults aged 19+.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you will need basic working maths knowledge and be able to communicate in a classroom environment.
If you are aged 16-18 and wishing to pursue a career in accounting, please consider the Accounting and Business - Level 2/3 course or an apprenticeship.
An external exam on week six of the course.
All classes are mandatory and failing to attend a class will prevent you from being entered into the exam.
