What is the AAT certificate in bookkeeping course?
The AAT Certificate in Bookkeeping - Level 2 is a nationally recognised bookkeeping course designed for adults aged 19+ who want to develop practical bookkeeping skills and build a career in accounting or finance. It is also ideal if you already have bookkeeping experience and would like a formal qualification to validate your skills.
This part-time course provides a strong foundation in bookkeeping principles, bookkeeping systems, and financial record keeping, helping you gain the knowledge and confidence needed to progress within the accounting or finance sector.

Who should study the AAT certificate in bookkeeping qualification?
This course is ideal for adults aged 19+ who:

What will you learn on the AAT certificate in bookkeeping course?
During this course, you will study the following AAT units:
- Introduction to Bookkeeping – learn manual and digital bookkeeping systems including the associated documents and processes
- Principles of Bookkeeping Controls – explore control accounts, journals and reconciliations.

When does the AAT certificate in bookkeeping course start?
There are two study options available:
- Daytime option - November 2026
- Evening option - September 2026.
When do classes take place?
- Daytime Option
- Attendance - One day per week
- Current timetable - Thursdays, 9.30am-5.15pm.
- Evening Option
- Attendance - Two evenings per week
- Current timetable - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8pm.
How much does the AAT certificate in bookkeeping course cost?
The course fee is £724.
This includes:
- Tuition
- Access to the online learning platform
- Hard copy course textbooks
- Your first attempt at each exam.
Don’t let paying for the course hold you back from achieving your goals. You can split the cost of this course over four instalments. If you wish to pay in instalments, you will be required to pay 25% (£181) of the total fee on the day of enrolment and a Direct Debit mandate would then to be completed to enable the college to collect further three payments of £181. The payments will be taken on the date you choose on the Direct Debit mandate form.

How is the AAT certificate in bookkeeping course delivered?
This course is delivered through face-to-face teaching in small classes, giving you direct access to experienced tutors who will provide guidance throughout the course. You will learn alongside other adult learners in a friendly, supportive classroom environment, and have access to online learning resources.

- Entry requirements
This course is only available to adults aged 19+.
- GCSE English Language and Maths grade 4-9/C-A* (or equivalent).
If you don't have the entry requirements, we will assess your skills on a 1:1 basis and you may be required to complete an online assessment.
If you are aged 16-18 and wishing to pursue a career in accounting, please consider the Accounting and Business - Level 2/3 or an apprenticeship.
