Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties (Online) - Level 2

Overview

The purpose of this qualification is to develop learner’s knowledge and understanding of a range of Specific Learning Difficulties, how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported.

The distance learning courses are completely free for anyone aged 19 or over (on the 31st August 2023), irrespective of their current employment status, but applicants must live in the UK in a non-devolved area. Applicants aged 19-23 must already have a full level 2 qualification to be eligible.

Please note, if you fail to reach the end of the course, you may be subject to a £125 admin fee.


What will I study?

This course is made up of a series of mandatory units:

  • Best practice relating to Specific Learning Difficulties
  • Living with a specific learning difficulty
  • Signs, symptoms and diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulties
  • Sources of information, support, legislation and guidance relevant to Specific Learning Difficulties

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, however learners should have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

All applicants must live in England and NOT live in one of the locations listed here.


How long is the course?

Total time to achieve this qualification is 135 hours.

Guided Learning hours with a tutor make up 108 of this time, with a further 27 hours for leaners to complete aspects of their assessment portfolio in their own time.

How will I be assessed?

The qualification is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance.

All learning outcomes and assessment criteria must be met to achieve a Pass – there is no grading.
