Young people considering their next steps after GCSEs are being invited to discover what A-Level study has to offer at an open event in Mansfield later this month.
There will be an open event this month at the Mansfield and Ashfield Sixth Form College.
Mansfield and Ashfield Sixth Form College, part of West Nottinghamshire College, will open its doors to prospective students and their families on Thursday 24 September, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, at its campus on Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield.
With courses filling quickly this year and demand already growing for places in 2027, the event will give Year 11 pupils an opportunity to explore their options, meet teaching staff and find out more about life as an A Level student.
Looking further ahead, the college is also preparing to expand its curriculum with the introduction of new V Levels in Digital, Education and Early Years, and Finance and Accounting, alongside a T Level in Science.
The new qualifications are set to join the college's curriculum from the 2027-2028 academic year, offering students even greater choice in how they continue their studies after GCSEs. Further information about these new study programmes, including their content and entry requirements, will be shared later in the academic year.
The sixth form offers more than 20 A-Level subjects across areas including sciences, mathematics, English, humanities, languages, creative arts and social sciences, enabling students to select a combination suited to their interests and future ambitions. Students can also opt to study two A-Levels plus one vocational subject.
Throughout the evening, visitors will be able to tour the campus and see its modern classrooms, specialist teaching facilities, independent study spaces, Learning Resource Centre and student social areas.
Prospective students can speak directly with A-Level teachers about individual subjects, entry requirements, teaching and assessment, while the college's careers advice team will be available to provide impartial guidance on subject choices and progression routes.
Visitors will also be able to meet current students and hear first-hand about sixth form life, alongside discovering the wider opportunities available through clubs and societies, volunteering, student leadership, trips, enrichment activities and personal development programmes.
Head of Sixth Form Joanna Wilson said: "Choosing where and what to study after GCSEs is an important decision, so our open event is a really valuable opportunity for young people and their families to come and experience the sixth form for themselves.
"Whether students already have a clear idea of the A-Levels they want to take or are only just beginning to consider their options, they can talk directly to our teachers, careers advisers and current students and get the information they need.
"We want young people to leave the evening with a real sense of what studying here is like and excited about where their A-Levels could take them next."
A-Level programmes at the college are designed to prepare students for a range of next steps, including university, higher and degree apprenticeships and professional careers.
Those who decide the sixth form is right for them can also take the next step on the evening, with dedicated application stations available where the admissions team can help prospective students submit their application.
Visitors can arrive at any point between 5.30pm and 7.30pm and are welcome to bring parents, carers, friends or family members.
There is no on-site parking during the event, although the campus is within walking distance of Mansfield town centre and nearby public car parks.
