Overview

IMPORTANT
Applications are now open for academic year 2026/2027, but our full-time courses are still being finalised. If your chosen course changes, we'll contact you to offer a suitable alternative that matches your goals. For more information, call our Enquiries Team on 0808 100 3626.

Roots Plus is designed to help young people who have barriers to engaging in a typical classroom environment prepare for being more independent in the future and progressing on to a higher level of study.

This course is a split between study offsite in a calm woodland setting, to enable the benefits of space and freedom, as well as classroom activities at Derby Road to cover the development of core skills and knowledge and to support progression. You will also study English and maths to develop much-needed skills for the future.

You will be guided to choose a ‘plus’ route on the course that is suitable for you; either vocational learning, community projects or voluntary work.

Youth work and welfare support staff will be available as a bespoke part of the course to support any barriers to learning and progression.
