cag assured logoThe purpose of this programme is to introduce the theory, concepts and the science behind Solar Thermal (hot water) technologies, including the fundamental concepts of solar energy, heating, health and safety, solar thermal circuits, legislation and how solar thermal systems are designed, installed, maintained and commissioned. 

This programme is suitable for learners with an interest in sustainable technologies and those who wish to develop the skills necessary for a career in this industry (including those learners studying engineering, plumbing, construction and multi-skills).

IMPORTANT NOTICE
While this course may be offered to you free of charge, failure to complete the course may result in a £125 administration fee. This fee covers the administrative costs associated with non-completion.

  • UK & international standards - types of solar collectors
  • Options for solar thermal storage
  • Designs for solar thermal primary circuits
  • Solar thermal primary circuit controls
  • Fittings & materials installation
  • Filling, commissioning and maintenance
  • Final assessment.
  • Entry requirements
    • No specific entry requirements  
    • Recommended: Minimum Level 2 in English and Maths (or equivalent)  
    • Applicants must live in England and not live in the locations listed here
    • Applicants must have been living in the UK for the last 3 years.
  • Assessment

    You will be assessed by online multiple choice assessment. Assessment is by two online multiple-choice quizzes covering the theory and the practical elements of instillation.
