Overview

This FREE adult-only (19+) part-time course is perfect if you want to improve your maths skills and use them more confidently in daily life or work.

You can progress through the Functional Skills levels and achieve nationally recognised qualifications.

Don't worry if you have not studied maths for many years. Our tutors are highly experienced in supporting adults returning to education. You will learn in small, supportive classes with other like-minded adults, helping you feel comfortable and confident.

You can study online with daytime, evening and weekend study options available. This is your chance to learn maths at your own pace in small groups in a discreet and supportive environment.

What will I study?

Functional Skills maths will help you to:

  • Develop confidence in core mathematical knowledge and skills
  • Apply maths to solve everyday problems
  • Carry out practical tasks involving numbers, measurements and calculations

You will build your skills step by step in a supportive environment designed specifically for adult learners.

To study online, you must:

  • Attend an in-person open day (course registration) - see below
  • Be an adult aged 19 and over
  • Be eligible for funding (checked upon application).

If you feel unsure about using tools such as email, Microsoft Word or Microsoft Teams, do not worry. We will support you step by step. You will have guidance from an assessor throughout your studies, and we also offer free short digital and IT courses for adults to help you build confidence before starting a qualification like this.

While this course may be offered to you free of charge, failure to complete the course may result in a £125 administration fee. This fee covers the administrative costs associated with non-completion.
