Functional Skills - English (On-campus)
Overview
This FREE adult-only (19+) part-time course is ideal if you want to improve your English skills for everyday life, work or further study.
You can start at any time and study flexibly, with multiple daytime and evening sessions available each week. This makes it easier to fit learning around your job, family and other commitments.
Don't worry if you have been out of education for some time. Our experienced tutors specialise in supporting adult learners and will guide you step by step. You will learn at your own pace in small, discreet and supportive classes with other adults.
You can progress through the Functional Skills levels and gain nationally recognised qualifications.

What will I study?
At each level, you will develop your ability to:
- Listen, understand and respond in a range of everyday situations
- Build your vocabulary and understand how words are used
- Read everyday texts with accuracy and confidence
- Write clearly using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.

This course is only available to adults aged 19+.
You will undertake an initial assessment to determine what level you are currently working at and what level of course is right for you.
