Low Carbon Heating Technician Apprentice

This is a great chance to build useful skills, grow your knowledge, and work towards getting qualified in a hands-on trade that’s all about low carbon and sustainable solutions. It’s a growing area with real purpose helping to tackle climate change and shape a greener future.

  • What will the apprentice be doing?

    • Assist with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of low-carbon heating systems, including heat pumps and solar thermal systems
    • Learn how to diagnose faults and carry out repairs under the guidance and supervision of experienced engineers
    • Support site surveys, system inspections, and performance assessments
    • Work alongside senior technicians to ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, regulations, and company procedures
    • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including job reports and installation documentation
    • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures to ensure safe working practices on site
    • Develop technical knowledge and practical skills through on-the-job training and formal apprenticeship learning
    • Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly, ensuring they are maintained and stored correctly
    • Communicate professionally with colleagues, customers, and other contractors when required
    • Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to achieving apprenticeship milestones and qualifications
  • What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

    • You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession
    • You will experience a blended learning model
    • This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Construction Campus This attendance is required during term time only
    • This is a work based programme which means that predominantly, your learning will take place on the site of your employment and within your contracted working hours
  • What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

    • Opportunity to progress onto a Full Plumbing / electrical apprenticeship if required by the company
    • Also the opportunity to complete other industry training when required
