Beauty Therapy - Level 4

Overview

Are you an adult learner with a passion for beauty and a desire to excel in your profession? Look no further! This adult-only part-time course,  specifically designed for individuals who are looking to up-skill, currently working in the industry or want to go into management, is the perfect opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge in advanced beauty practices.

Join us on a single day per week in a small class size alongside like-minded adults, creating a friendly, supportive learning environment. We will delve into the world of reducing hair growth using intense light and laser treatments, and rejuvenating the skin with intense light and microdermabrasion. By enrolling on this course, you'll gain comprehensive expertise in product chemistry, the physiology of ageing, and the principles of dermatology and microbiology.

We also go beyond the technical aspects of beauty therapy and cover salon management, offering you the chance to learn valuable skills in PR, marketing, and research. Broaden your horizons and set yourself apart in the industry by mastering essential management functions.

This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the reputable standard-setting body for hair, beauty, nails, and spa qualifications.

All training takes place in Revive, our professional commercial hair and beauty salon that is open to the public and equipped with industry-standard facilities that are unrivalled in the area. This means you will gain valuable, real-world experience.

Do not worry if you have been away from education for a while. Our experienced tutors understand the needs of adult learners and will support you at every stage. You will study in small classes with other adults who share your passion for working with children.

• Applying micro dermabrasion
• Dermatology and microbiology
• Laser and light treatments for hair removal
• Laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation
• Chemistry of hair and beauty products
• Management of health, safety and security in the salon
• Physiology of ageing
• Quality management of client care in the hair and beauty sector
• Salon management
• Public Relations (PR) in the hair and beauty sector.

Some modules will be delivered by a science tutor in one of our labs where you’ll take part in experiments.

The one-day-a-week timetable suits me really well, as I work almost full-time and can complete most of my work during the day. The group is made up of adults, which is really nice, as everyone is serious about being here and committed to learning. The course is reasonably priced, and I am funding it through student finance. As I am over the age of 19, I did have to contribute towards the cost of the course.

Time was a worry as the course has a lot of homework, but tutors are understanding and allow flexibility, and the course runs at a good time to suit business and family life. The class is made of 10 students with a complete spread of ages from late teens to 50s, all like-minded individuals who are enthusiastic about the beauty industry from spa to aesthetics.

Start date, attendance and fee

• Start date - September 2026
• Attendance - One day per week, 9.00-4.00pm (currently Mondays, but subject to change)
• Fee - £5,421

Don’t let paying for the course hold you back from achieving your goals. There are different funding routes available for adult learners. Dependent on your personal circumstances, you may be eligible to:

• Apply for an  Advanced Learner Loan
  • You may be able to get an Advanced Learner Loan to help pay for your course tuition fees. There’s nothing to pay upfront, and you won’t start repaying the loan until you’re earning over £25,750 a year. Even then, you’ll only repay 9% of anything you earn above that amount - and any remaining loan is written off after 30 years.
• Split the cost of the course over four instalments
  • If you wish to pay in instalments, you will be required to pay 25% (£1,355.25) of the total fee on the day of enrolment and a Direct Debit mandate would then to be completed to enable the college to collect further three payments of £1,355.25 bi-monthly. The payments will be taken on the date you choose on the Direct Debit mandate form.

All hair and beauty courses require the purchase of a specific kit and uniform. It is your responsibility to finance these purchases independently, as there is no funding currently available. Please be aware that the current price for the required uniform is £45.80*. The prices for the required kit and uniform will be determined at the start of the year.
