- Meet the team
Lisa
Lisa joined the college to initially help adults build confidence with numeracy. Her role has since grown into the Family Learning Team, where she now leads programmes that help families learn, grow and thrive together. Lisa is passionate about community education and brings a wide range of experience to her role, including youth work, teaching in secondary schools, mentoring, and volunteering on short-term projects in Burkina Faso, Nepal and South Africa. Away from college, Lisa volunteers as a Leader with Girlguiding where she supports young women to build confidence and recognise their potential. She loves all things history, dogs, and cheering on her daughter at football matches.
Sean
Sean is the college’s coordinator for adult and community provisions, creating accessible learning opportunities that make a real difference in people’s lives. He works closely with local organisations to understand community needs, and develop opportunities that help people build confidence, gain new skills, and take positive steps towards further learning or employment. Sean has a strong background in community and charity-based projects, and enjoys bringing people and partners together to create meaningful impact across the region. Outside of work, he can often be found exploring the Peak District with his daughter, listening to music, and working on a variety of creative projects.
Scott
Scott joined our team after spending 40 years in the catering industry, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that he loves to share. His warm and friendly manner makes our family cookery sessions very popular, and he especially enjoys meeting new people from a range of backgrounds. In his spare time, Scott likes going to gigs, travelling and socialising with his many friends.
Paul
Paul works as a cookery tutor. He has been a chef for over 30 years, and has been lucky enough to work in hospitality globally. Sustainable cooking and nutrition are very close to Paul’s heart, and he loves teaching younger generations the importance of good nutritious food. Paul loves multicultural cuisine and healthy eating, as well as exercise. He enjoys keeping up to date with the food industry.
Betty
Betty is our craft expert, having worked at the college for over 15 years. She enjoys engaging with learners and working on projects that create everyday items that are sustainable. Betty also loves supporting people to grow in confidence and has seen many learners progress onto further education or start their own businesses. In her spare time, Betty works on her own craft projects; she is currently exploring machine-embroidery, and regularly attends Maker Space, a community workshop in Nottingham.
Matt
Matt specialises in teaching maths, especially helping to deliver our adult numeracy programmes. His role has developed overtime, and Matt now oversees the Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme across the college, as well as delivering Family Learning sessions.
