What is the Crafts course?
The Crafts course at West Notts College is a creative adult course designed for beginners and craft enthusiasts who want to explore different practical skills in a friendly, supportive environment.
Throughout the course, you'll discover three exciting areas of crafting: Jewellery Making, Cricut design and Fabric Crafts. You'll learn new techniques, create handmade items and develop confidence through practical activities.
Whether you're starting a new hobby or looking to expand your creative skills, this course provides the perfect opportunity to try something new.
Who should study the Crafts course?
This course is ideal for adults aged 19 and over who:
- Enjoy creative activities and handmade crafts
- Want to learn new practical skills
- Are beginners looking for a supportive introduction to crafting
- Enjoy making personalised gifts and home decorations
- Want to meet other creative learners
No previous craft experience is required.
What will you learn on the Crafts course?
The course covers three creative areas:
Jewellery Making
You'll learn how to design and create handmade jewellery pieces while developing practical techniques and creative confidence.
Cricut
You'll discover how to use a Cricut smart cutting machine to create:
- Personalised cards
- Gifts
- Home décor
- Vinyl designs
- Creative projects
Fabric Crafts
You'll explore ways to transform fabric into unique handmade creations using practical crafting techniques.
When does the Crafts course start?
Jewellery Making
- Tuesday 8 September to Tuesday 15 December 2026 (14 weeks)
- Wednesday 9 September to Wednesday 16 December 2026 (14 weeks)
Cricut
- Tuesday 5 January to Tuesday 23 March 2027 (11 weeks)
- Wednesday 6 January to Wednesday 24 March 2027 (11 weeks)
Fabric Crafts
- Tuesday 13 April to Tuesday 22 June 2027 (10 weeks)
- Wednesday 14 April to Wednesday 23 June 2027 (10 weeks)
When do classes take place?
- Tuesdays, 10.00am to 12.00pm
- Wednesdays, 10.00am to 12.00pm
How much does the Crafts course cost?
- FREE for eligible new learners*
- £5 per session for returning learners on a low income*
- £10 per session for returning learners on a higher income*

How is the Crafts course delivered?
The course is delivered face-to-face at Old Town Hall, Mansfield through practical crafting sessions.
You'll learn in small adult-only groups with tutor demonstrations, hands-on activities and individual support to help you develop your skills and confidence.
