This qualification is designed to provide the knowledge and skills required to work as a gym instructor and personal trainer in a variety of settings. You will learn the role and scope of a gym instructor and personal trainer, and acquire a number of practical and technical skills.

What will I study?

The principles of working in the gym environment, including customer service and how to maintain health, safety and welfare
Anatomy and physiology of how to conduct consultations and promote the health benefits of physical activity
How to communicate effectively and motivate clients to adhere to an exercise programme
How to plan and prepare a gym-based exercise programme
Nutrition to support a physical activity programme
Marketing and business planning
Personal training programming and delivering personal training session.

Entry requirements
- Level 2 in English and Maths
- Attend a gym on a regular basis.
Assessment
Portfolio and practical assessment.
Progression
Employment or self-employment as a gym instructor and personal trainer in a range of settings.
