This adult-only (19+) part-time course, previously known as PTLLS, is ideal if you are looking to start a career in teaching or progress within your current role. Delivered over 12 weeks in the evening, it provides an excellent introduction to teaching and training in further education and skills.
It is the perfect first step to help you decide if teaching is right for you and provides the foundations to progress onto further teacher training qualifications.
Do not worry if you have been out of education for some time. Our tutors are highly experienced in supporting adult learners and will guide you throughout the course. You will learn in small, supportive groups, building confidence in a welcoming and professional environment.
Starting something new can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. From careers guidance to mental health and wellbeing, we’re here to support you before you apply and throughout your time with us.
This course is only available to adults aged 19+.
If you feel unsure about using tools such as email, Microsoft Word or Microsoft Teams, do not worry. We will support you step by step. You will have guidance from an assessor throughout your studies, and we also offer free short digital and IT courses for adults to help you build confidence before starting a qualification like this.
Ongoing theory and practical tasks.
This course will give you the foundations to study a certificate in education (teacher training).
This can be studied through NTU in Mansfield* which is located at our Derby Road campus.
