Overview

This FREE four-week adult-only (19+) part-time evening course is designed to help you learn, develop and practise key plastering skills to support employment, career progression or home improvement projects.

If you have been out of education for a while, you will be fully supported. Our experienced tutors specialise in helping adults return to learning, providing clear guidance and encouragement throughout. Classes are small and supportive, allowing you to learn comfortably alongside other adults in a friendly environment.

What will I study?

Preparing background surfaces
Mixing plastering materials correctly
Applying render scratch coats to internal backgrounds
Fixing sheet materials
Applying multi-finish plaster to plasterboard backgrounds

You will leave with a strong foundation in core plastering techniques and the confidence to progress further.

Start date, attendance and fee

Start date - Monday 27 April
Attendance - Two evenings per week (Mondays and Tuesdays), 5.00-8.00pm
Fee - Free/£75*

Elibigiblity to attend for free:

Aged 19+ (on the start of the course)
Living in eligible postcodes
Annual income is less than £33,796.80 and you live in the EMCCA area (Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire) OR your annual income is less than £25,750 and you live outside the EMCCA area (non-devolved)
Economically inactive** but seeking work
Claiming one of the eligible benefits.

This course is only available to adults aged 19+.

- Completing this course could lead to working in a junior plasterer role within construction or as a maintenance professional, either employed or self-employed.
- Local employers in the area include council maintenance departments, housing associations and schools.
