Overview

This FREE four-week adult-only (19+) part-time evening course is perfect if you want to develop essential carpentry and joinery skills for employment, career progression or personal projects.

Even if it has been years since you last studied, you will be supported throughout. Our tutors are experienced in helping adults return to education and will guide you at every stage. You will learn in small classes with other like-minded adults, creating a supportive and relaxed atmosphere.

What will I study?

  • Carrying out basic carpentry and joinery activities
  • Using hand tools such as planes and chisels safely and effectively
  • Producing basic woodworking joints and frames

By the end of the course, you will have developed practical skills and confidence in fundamental woodworking techniques.


Start date, attendance and fee

  • Start date - Monday 27 April
  • Attendance - Two evenings per week (Mondays and Tuesdays), 5.00-8.00pm 
  • Fee - Free/£75* 

Elibigiblity to attend for free:

  • Aged 19+ (on the start of the course)
  • Living in eligible postcodes
  • Annual income is less than £33,796.80 and you live in the EMCCA area (Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire) OR your annual income is less than £25,750 and you live outside the EMCCA area (non-devolved)
  • Economically inactive** but seeking work
  • Claiming one of the eligible benefits.
