Overview

IMPORTANT
Applications are now open for academic year 2026/2027, but our full-time courses are still being finalised. If your chosen course changes, we'll contact you to offer a suitable alternative that matches your goals. For more information, call our Enquiries Team on 0808 100 3626.

This course can be studied alongside 2 A Levels or 1 A Level and 1 vocational course (as part of our 2+1 offer).

The A Level in Geography will encourage you to look at the physical nature of the planet and the influence human activity has on it.

A mixture of human and physical geography topics are included in the course, meaning there are close links with other social sciences such as politics, and core sciences such as physics and biology.

With climate change and environmental issues high on everyone agenda, geography remains an important course of study.

What will I study?

You will be encouraged to look at the physical nature of the planet and the influence human activity has on it.

You will study topics in human geography (Migration, Power and Borders), and physical geography (Coasts, Water and Carbon Cycles). There are also topics which bridge the gap between human and physical geography, such as hazards and oceans which we study in further depth.

You will also have the opportunity to study another area of your choice as part of your coursework.
