Biography
Piers has worked within various different sectors over the years including retail, security and logistics and of course, teaching.
Piers joined West Notts College as a student on a NVQ IT Support course, and quickly progressed on to a Higher National Certificate course in Software Engineering. It was whilst on this course that he gained full-time employment as an IT Technician within the college. After a number of years, Piers moved to part-time, then full-time teaching, delivering on a range of courses and levels. Piers then became course lead and curriculum manager for the computing department, teaching on many courses, from running successful school tasters, to delivering degree level content on diverse topics such as Programming, Router Configuration and VR Environments.
Piers continued his education whilst working at Chesterfield College and gained a First-class Honours degree at Sheffield University. His dissertation was on the practical use of AI within a business application. Piers has also worked on Erasmus+ international Projects with Non-Governmental Organisations like CILL-UK and Momentum World and worked with companies like Atari and BioWare.
Piers returned to West Notts College, to work within the computing team and once again helps to support learners to gain the skills they need to succeed in their chosen career path.
