Biography

Chris is a skilled, fully qualified teacher and assessor, with over 22 years’ experience across science, health and education.

Chris began his professional career as a trainee biomedical scientist in a hospital in Essex after graduating with a BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry from University of Greenwich.

After relocating to the East Midlands, he began his teaching journey as a part-time lecturer at North Notts College teaching A Level Chemistry, BTEC Sports Science, and NVQ Healthcare.

He trained to become a secondary science teacher after the birth of his first child, gaining a PGCE with QTS from Nottingham Trent University. Chris began his teaching career in secondary schools at Selston before moving to Long Earon after a promotion. He spent a further 16 years at Long Eaton, being promoted several times to become the Head of Science. During this time, he also completed an MSc in Science with the Open University, became a chartered science teacher (CSciTeach) with the Association for Science Education and was in the first cohort for chartered teacher status with the Chartered College of Teaching (CTeach). He joined West Nottinghamshire College in January 2024.

Outside of college Chris enjoys walking, cycling and football.
