Teacher: ICT and networking


Biography

Andrew worked in industry for over 20 years prior to joining the college in 2007. This has given him insight into how organisations operate, what workplace expectations are and what processes are used, enabling him to fully-prepare college students for employment in the industry.

During his time in industry he worked in several management roles including quality assurance manager and operations manager. Later in his career he worked for an organisation in one capacity whilst delivering ICT support across desktop machines, servers and the network, this eventually lead to a full ICT manager role with this organisation which involved managing systems for head office and six satellite offices located in Caerphilly (South Wales), Petersfield, Essex, Northampton, Sheffield and Stanley (North East).

He is experienced in network infrastructure, desktop PC, server, communications and remote systems management and this experience led him to the college.

As a college lecturer, Andrew teaches a variety of subjects and teaches across multiple levels ranging from Level 2 to Level 4 currently. Andrew has taught at Level 1 and also Higher Education level too.

Andrew currently teaches a variety of topics including (but not limited to) computer networking, information technology, technology systems, cloud technologies, systems analysis, project management and a Level 4 network engineer apprenticeship. Andrew can, and has taught database design and programming too.

Andrew has worked, for several years, as part of a motorcycle racing team in both national club racing and in the British Superbikes (Junior Superstock which later became the VirginMedia R6 Cup).
