Overview

This FREE* four-week adult-only (19+) part-time evening course is designed to help you learn, develop and practise key plastering skills to support employment, career progression or home improvement projects.

If you have been out of education for a while, you will be fully supported. Our experienced tutors specialise in helping adults return to learning, providing clear guidance and encouragement throughout. Classes are small and supportive, allowing you to learn comfortably alongside other adults in a friendly environment.

What will I study?

  • Preparing background surfaces
  • Mixing plastering materials correctly
  • Applying render scratch coats to internal backgrounds
  • Fixing sheet materials
  • Applying multi-finish plaster to plasterboard backgrounds

You will leave with a strong foundation in core plastering techniques and the confidence to progress further.

  • Start date - September 2026
  • Attendance - Two evenings per week (Mondays and Tuesdays), 5.00-8.00pm 
  • Fee - Free (see eligibility below) or £75** 

Eligibility to attend for free:

  • Aged 19+ (on the start of the course)
  • Living in eligible postcodes
  • Annual income is less than £25,750
  • Economically inactive*** but seeking work
  • Claiming one of the eligible benefits.

**New learners only. Returning learners would be required to pay the full course fee of £150.
