What is the Health and Safety Award in Construction course?

The Health and Safety Award in Construction qualification is a six-week, part-time evening course designed to give adults aged 19+ the essential knowledge needed to work safely on construction sites across the UK.

This course prepares you for industry-recognised accreditation such as the CSCS Card, helping you take your first step towards working in the construction sector.

You will benefit from experienced tutors and learn alongside other adult learners in a friendly and relaxed setting.


Who should study the Health and Safety Award in Construction qualification?

This course is ideal for:

  • Anyone looking to start a career in construction
  • Current construction workers who need a recognised health and safety qualification for site work.

This course is designed for adult learners (aged 19+) wishing to study part-time.


What will you learn on the Health and Safety Award in Construction course?

Develop essential knowledge in:

  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Health and safety regulations
  • Risk Assessments Method Statement (RAMS)
  • The role of a site operative.

By the end of the course, you will have gained the confidence and understanding needed to work safely on a construction site.

How much does the Health and Safety Award in Construction course cost?

  • FREE (see eligibility below) or £125.

Eligibility to attend for free:

  • Aged 19+ (as of 31 August)
  • Unemployed, employed and self-employed learners studying courses with an annual income less than £26,800
  • OR those who are economically inactive* but seeking work.

The course cost includes the end-of-unit exam.

Classes take place on Mondays and Tuesdays, 5-8pm, making the course suitable for people who are working during the day.
