Welcome to our exciting beginner course, tailored specifically for anyone who is eager to embark on a successful career in bricklaying. This course will equip you with the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to excel in further study, apprenticeships, or full-time employment.
Throughout the course, we will provide comprehensive theoretical - what you need to know and practical - hands on sessions, to put into practice what you have learnt, to ensure a well-rounded understanding of bricklaying. Additionally, you'll have the chance to participate in various enrichment activities, including industry and community-based projects and exciting trips and visits. Our esteemed partnerships with industry employers like Persimmon Homes, Willmott Dixon, Mansfield District Council, and Bolsover Council will open doors to valuable work-related opportunities. These partnerships ensure that you develop the skills and expertise that employers in the bricklaying industry actively seek.
The bricklaying industry offers a wide range of opportunities, including roles such as house builder, specialising in walls and chimney repair/restoration, and the potential for progression into senior positions like site supervisor or construction manager.
Bricklayers are responsible for constructing, extending, and repairing domestic and commercial buildings, as well as other structures such as foundations, walls, chimneys, and decorative masonry work. By becoming a skilled bricklayer, you'll experience a genuine sense of accomplishment through the tangible results of your work.
Located at The Old Brewery in the centre of Mansfield, our dedicated construction campus boasts top-of-the-range facilities. With practical areas and classrooms in close proximity, you'll have the perfect environment to refine your specialist skills and techniques relevant to your chosen trade. During the course, you will develop a range of skills
You will be expected to study Functional Skills English and Maths throughout your programme of study.
You will predominantly study via practical sessions although theory sessions will also be included. You will have the opportunity to participate in extensive enrichment activities, such as industry and community-based projects, as well as trips and visits.
OR
If you are not studying a traditional GCSE programme, we accept alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and vocational courses. If you are not planning on sitting GCSE exams, we can also support you with completing an English Language and Maths assessment. Please contact our admissions team for further details:

If you don't meet the listed entry requirements, you may still be accepted with relevant experience, a strong portfolio, and a commitment to the subject.
