Mechanical Engineering Apprentice

We have a fantastic opportunity for 4 x new apprentices to join our Machine Shop department to become fully skilled engineers in all aspects of the machine shop.

  • What will the apprentice be doing?

    • To produce batches of parts as instructed
    • To identify tooling requirements
    • To have an understanding of the works order administration system
    • To carry out routine maintenance as required
    • To be able to use and interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and computer-generated programmes
    • You will be expected to be able to set up, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings as applicable to the machine tool being used
    • When using CNC equipment, you will be expected to be able to produce, prove and/or edit programmes
  • What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

    Machining Technician Level 3.

    This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our engineering campus (NG17). This attendance is required during term time only.

  • What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

    To become a fully qualified CNC Machinist in a permanent role.
