Specialist: Carpentry and joinery
Biography
Ryan has many years of experience in the construction industry running his own business as a self-employed carpenter on new builds and restoration/modernisation projects. Alongside working in the construction industry Ryan decided to go back into eduaction to gain teaching and assessing qualifications, with the desire to be able to pass on his skills to the next generation of carpenters and joiners.
Ryan now teaches apprenticeship students at West Notts to develop their skills in site carpentry and architectural joinery. As well as teaching apprentices Ryan also carries out site visits to support those students and their employers in the workplace, keeping employers up-to-date with the latest key elements of their apprenticeship training and development of knowledge, skills and behaviours in the trade, to ensure they are feeling confident and competent to successfully pass their end point assessments and gain their qualification.
When not teaching Ryan enjoys the high adrenaline rush of riding motorcycles offset by the tranquillity of spending many hours on the riverbank doing a spot of fishing.
