This course is specifically designed to provide you with comprehensive training in advanced skills, knowledge, and behaviours in the field of electrical work. Its primary objective is to equip you with the expertise required to excel in electrical installations. By enrolling in this course, you will gain advanced skills and knowledge that will prepare you for progression into an apprenticeship or secure full-time employment in the construction trade of your choice, focusing on electrical installations. This course will empower you to pursue a successful career in the industry, where you can contribute your expertise to the safe and efficient installation of electrical systems.

Our dedicated Electrical Installation Academy, located within our state-of-the-art Construction Centre in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, offers specialised training for students pursuing a career in building services. Equipped with top-of-the-line facilities, our Electrical Installation Academy provides the perfect environment for honing the specialist skills and techniques required in this trade, ensuring you're well-prepared for prospective employment.

Uniform and PPE must be purchased in advance.


What will I study?

  • Principles of electrical science
  • Electrical design and installation practices and procedures
  • Principles of inspection, testing and commissioning electrical systems
  • Inspecting, testing and commissioning electrical systems
  • Electrical system fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Requirements for electrical installations

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of GCSEs at grade 4 in maths and grade 3 in English

Study programmes - essential skills for employment

If you're a student between the ages of 16 and 18 (or 19 to 25 with an EHC Plan) we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.

Students who haven't achieved a grade 4/C in GCSE maths or English to continue studying these subjects while you're here with us. By doing so, you'll be building a strong foundation of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.

Think of it as a chance to supercharge your knowledge and abilities. You'll be equipped with the tools necessary to tackle the world beyond college with confidence. Plus, we'll be right here to support you every step of the way.

In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, all students aged 19 and under and studying a full-time course with us will take part in our study programmes.
