If you have no prior accounting knowledge, this entry-level bookkeeping qualification will give you an understanding of manual, single-entry bookkeeping basics.
This Level 1 qualification introduces the role of a bookkeeper and the underpinning knowledge to identify and carry out simple bookkeeping activities, such as income and expenditure, profit and loss, and assets and liabilities. It also offers an introduction into the role, and the benefits and risks associated with bookkeeping software.
This course will give you a solid grounding for students before moving on to the Level 2 qualifications.
An AAT qualification offers you a professional status that reflects the skills you’ve worked so hard to gain.

You will also need to purchase an AAT student membership at the appropriate level for your course. The membership fee lasts for the whole duration of the qualification. Please visit aat.org.uk for current membership fees and payment information.
Bookkeeping fundamentals
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however, you will need basic working maths knowledge and be able to communicate in a classroom environment.
This course is for learners aged 19+ only. If you are aged 16-18 and wishing to pursue a career in accounting, please consider the Accounting and Business - Level 2/3 course or an apprenticeship.
An external exam on week seven of the course.
All classes are mandatory and failing to attend a class will prevent you from being entered into the exam.
