Staff Remote Connection

To improve security, the college now requires you to connect to our systems via a VPN before connecting to RAS.
A guide on how to connect to the VPN is available here.

Step-By-Step Guide

  • Step 1 - VPN

    Follow the instructions in the information box above, or download the instructions here, to connect to the VPN.

    If you need support to do this or have any problems, please contact the IT Helpdesk.

  • Step 2 - Remote Desktop

    Download the remote desktop connection file here and then run the file, following the on-screen prompts.

    If you are using a Mac, you will need to download Microsoft Remote Desktop from the Mac App Store.

    There is a help sheet available here and also a brief video guide available.

  • Step 3 - Log In

    For your username, you should enter it as follows: idnumber@westnotts.ac.uk; for instance, if your college username is joh123456 then you should enter joh123456@westnotts.ac.uk. Your password is the same as your normal college password.
