VTCT Award in Nail Technology - Level 2

Overview

Looking for a change in career or a new hobby? Vision West Nottinghamshire College, Mansfield is offering a 10-week course in nail technology.

The course is designed to expand on your previous knowledge, and aims to help students become qualified at Level 2. You will develop practical skills in providing and maintaining nail enhancements using UV gel nail systems.

Entry requirements

You will need to have good skills and knowledge in manicure and pedicure. You will need to attend an interview with a college beauty tutor.

How will I be assessed?

Theory assessments will be through online testing and assignments. Practical assessments will be carried out by a qualified assessor in college.

What does the course lead to?

This course is for students interested in nail techniques. It is an excellent option if you wish to progress into a career in the nail industry. On successful completion of this course you will hold a qualification at Level 2, with the opportunity to move on to Level 3 courses and enhance your knowledge further. 

What will I study?

This course is both practical and theory-based and includes:

  • Anatomy and physiology of the nail
  • Equipment information and brush care
  • Application of nail enhancements

We will provide you with a step-by-step guide to cover:

  • Tip application
  • Zoning
  • Blending
  • Re-balancing the nail application
  • How to apply natural nail overlays
  • Safe removal 

Study programmes

It is an entry requirement for some courses to have gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths (see entry requirements). If the entry requirements to a course do not require A*-C in these subjects, and you haven’t already gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths before joining us, you will continue to study English and maths as part of your programme and take appropriate qualifications in these subjects with the aim of achieving A* to C grade. In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, every student aged under 19 and studying a full-time course at college will take part in our study programmes alongside their main subject qualification.
