Overview

Take your hospitality skills to the next level and learn from professional chefs who have worked in Michelin star restaurants.

Combining practical and theoretical units, this course will develop your skills, knowledge and confidence in a range of topics, including preparing different types of dishes, bread and pastry products and food safety.

This course is ideal for anyone working within the industry and looking to enhance their skills and experience.

This course is delivered on Mondays and lasts between 10 and 12 months. You can start the course at any time.

The course is a part-time course for learners aged 19 or over only.

Course fees

The course fee is £3,345 however you may be able to study for free if...

  • It is your first level 3 qualification (applies to the Level 3 course only)
  • You have a level 3 qualification but it was achieved before April 2021 (applies to the Level 3 course only)
  • You are unemployed and receiving the following benefits, JSA, ESA and Universal Credit.
  • You are employed and earning less than £18,525 per year.

If you are not eligible to study this course for free, you will need to pay the full course fee. This can either be paid in full or in four instalments. If you wish to pay in instalments, you will be required to pay 25% (£833.75) of the total fee on the day of enrolment and a Direct Debit mandate would then to be completed to enable the college to collect further three payments of £833.75 a month. The payments will be taken on the date you choose on the Direct Debit mandate form.

Equipment fees

A chefs uniform and knife set will be required. This can be purchased from our supplier at a cost of £165.10. Depending on your status, you may be entitled to a bursary to help with equipment costs.

Course modules include

  • Maintaining food safety
  • Developing productive working relationships
  • Preparing, cooking and finishing fish dishes
  • Preparing, cooking and finishing meat, poultry, and game dishes
  • Preparing, cooking and finishing soups and sauces
  • Preparing, cooking and finishing breads, dough, and pastry products.

Entry requirements

You must have a minimum of two GCSEs at grade 3/D in English, or extensive industry experience.

How long is the course?

10-12 months.

How will I be assessed?

Your progress will be monitored and assessed through continuous practical assessments and through multiple choice question to assess your knowledge.
