Advanced Technical Diploma in Beauty and Spa Therapy - Level 3
Overview
During this course you will cover up-to-date techniques on micro dermabrasion, massage, Indian head massage, spa treatments and facial electrotherapy services and uncover the theoretical side to business, including promoting services and products, and contributing to the financial effectiveness of the business.

Entry requirements
Level 2 in Beauty Therapy plus a dexterity test, attendance at a one-day ‘welcome day’ during July/August, or attendance at summer school if a progressing learner.
16-18 year olds: You will need to supply a written reference from your school/college teacher and/or a current school or college report with an indication of your attendance pattern and achievements. This will need to be uploaded to your myVISION account by the end of May.

If you are aged 19 or over and either studying a second Level 3 course or qualifying Level 4, 5 or 6 course you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the costs.
How long is the course?
36 weeks.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed by an ongoing theory and practical assessment that will be carried out on paying clients within the commercial salon. Collating and presenting an evidence portfolio, you will also be assessed through exams set by the awarding body. All practical assessments are graded pass, merit and distinction.

Study programmes
It is an entry requirement for some courses to have gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths (see entry requirements). If the entry requirements to a course do not require A*-C in these subjects, and you haven’t already gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths before joining us, you will continue to study English and maths as part of your programme and take appropriate qualifications in these subjects with the aim of achieving A* to C grade. In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, every student aged under 19 and studying a full-time course at college will take part in our study programmes alongside their main subject qualification.
