Welcome to foundation studies at West Notts

There’s plenty to look forward to as a student at college and we wanted to tell you all about it! So we’ve created this page to give you an idea of what college life is like for our students.

From course-related activities, to sport, social trips and days out, and fundraising events – there’s always something happening for you to get involved in – both in and out of the classroom.

What's been happening in foundation studies?

In the news

Animal care students took time out of their studies to collect items and pack treat boxes for animals for the local RSPCA rescue centre at Christmas time.

Students have enjoyed a number of trips across the academic year, including visits to Drayton Manor, The Holocaust Centre in Laxton, and the National Justice Museum. Animal care students also got to visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Flamingo Land.

Practical work skills students used their enterprise project skills to host a pre-Easter fair, selling crafts and cakes as well as a Tombola, with proceeds going to Jerry Green Dog Rescue Centre.

The newly-opened Vision Aquatics society has been popular with students from across the college, and thanks to the kind staff at Pets at Home, Mansfield, the club now has a new aquarium as well as plants and fish to attend and care too. A great way to boost those animal care skills!
