T Level Foundation Year - Health and NCFE CACHE Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care - Level 2
Overview
Are you passionate about working with people in the health and social care sector? This course is the perfect stepping stone for anyone interested in pursuing a career in either the health sector (such as nursing, paramedic, therapies) or the social care sector.
Following successful completion of this course you would be able to progress onto either:

Your progression will be determined by your chosen career pathway which are expert team will support you with whilst on the course.
This course allows you to study health related topics such as science and person-centred practice and understand how health has an impact on the body. In addition, you will have opportunity to look at a variety of health conditions and how common they are, and the research and data associated with these conditions.
What will I study?
Outcome 1 (O1)
- Apply knowledge and understanding of scientific theories, concepts and principles to health and science context.
Outcome 2A (O2A)
- Provide person centred care to support the health and wellbeing of individuals.
Outcome 3 (O3)
- Analyse information and data to highlight health and science issues.
You will also study the NCFE CACHE Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care - Level 2 to enhance your programme of study and achieve a recognised qualification upon successful completion. This qualification will include the following mandatory and optional units:
Mandatory units
- Human growth and development
- Safeguarding and protection in health and social care
- Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
- Communication in health and social care
- Working in health and social care.
Optional units
- Nutrition for health and social care
- Health and well-being
- Infection prevention and control in health and social care.
Work placement
You will be required to attend at least 30 hours in a health care related setting to support your learning and to develop and demonstrate your knowledge, skills and behaviours in the health care sector to support progression on to Level 3 programmes.
GCSEs
You will also have an opportunity to resit GCSE English Language, maths or science (biology) to strengthen your qualifications to a grade 5-9 for progression onto the T Level in Health (Level 3) or the Level 3 Social Care (TOQ) Technical Occupational Qualification.
Entry requirements
This course is only available to 16-18 year olds.
- Four GCSEs at grade 3-9 including English Language, Maths and Science.
- A successful DBS check.
You must supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer and a current school or college report with an indication of your attendance and achievements
You should also possess appropriate communication skills and caring skills to be successful on this course.
If you are not studying a traditional GCSE programme, we accept alternative qualifications like Functional Skills and vocational courses. If you are not planning on sitting GCSE exams, we can also support you with completing an English Language and Maths assessment. Please contact our admissions team for further details:
Study programmes - essential skills for employment
If you’re aged 16-18 (or 19-25 with an EHC Plan), we want to make sure you have the best possible chances of landing an awesome job once you finish college.
Therefore, if you do not have GCSE grade 4-9 in either English Language or Maths, you will study one or both of these courses alongside your full-time study programme. If you do have GCSE grade 4-9 in English Language and Maths then you will not be required to undertake these subjects. By doing so, you'll be building a stronger set of skills that will significantly boost your employability in the future.

How long is the course?

How will I be assessed?
- Internally graded assignments.
What can I progress onto?
Although the course does not give you a licence to practise, it would allow you to apply for a variety of roles in the healthcare sector such as healthcare assistant.

Progression to university
Both the T Level in Health - Level 3 and the NCFE CACHE Technical Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care - Level 3 have accredited UCAS points and therefore will support progression on to the university courses.
