Apply for a free ‘Step into Teaching’ three week training programme!

Have you considered a career change?

Do you have current industry experience and skills you could share with others?

This is an ideal first step into a teaching role and can help you decide if teaching is for you.

You will gain the skills, knowledge and tools to be able to assist/deliver teaching sessions in a classroom or online.

Following the course you will have the opportunity to enrol to an accredited teaching qualification.

Entry requirements

  • No formal qualifications required
  • Need to be able to demonstrate you can work at level 2 in maths and English
  • Relevant experience or a professional qualification in your industry.

How long is the course?

  • 3 weeks
  • Monday to Friday
  • Approximately 15-20 hours.

Location

How will I be assessed?

  • Workbook and assignments
  • Attendance of online webinars and sessions
  • One-to-one remote tutorial sessions
  • Final assessment will be delivering a micro teach session
  • Final assessment will be live in college (subject to Covid-19 restrictions).

What does the course lead to?

Upon completion of the course you will receive a college attendance certificate and would have a good insight into a teaching role.

You may be interested in progressing to the Level 3 award or working as education support staff.

The course would also benefit those in youth voluntary services.

Due to COVID-19 you may be able to support teachers live in school or remotely while working toward the Level 3 award.

  • Development of techniques to make learning sessions relevant and informative
  • Learning preparations and controlling the learning room
  • Coping with challenging behaviour
  • Empowering the learning experience through expert knowledge delivery
  • Safeguarding in education.

What can I go on to study?

Upon completion of the course you could go on to complete the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
