Overview
Take your hospitality skills to the next level and learn from professional chefs who have worked in Michelin star restaurants.
Combining practical and theoretical units, this course will develop your skills, knowledge and confidence in a range of topics, including preparing different types of dishes, bread and pastry products and food safety.
This course is ideal for anyone working within the industry and looking to enhance their skills and experience.
This course is delivered on Mondays and lasts one year. You can start the course at any time.

Start dates
- There are several start points throughout the year.
- The course will be every Monday and will take approximately take one year to complete
- There will be breaks in the course for holiday periods or when the college is closed.
Cost
Free* or £1,287.
Students aged 19-23 must already have a full level 2 qualification or the full course fee of £3,345 will apply.
*Learners must be aged 19 or over on 31 August 2024 to attend our adult courses. Tuition fees are waived on many of our courses if you live in eligible postcodes, earn below £25,000 per year, are unemployed or economically inactive and receive benefits, or have low take-home pay with benefits. If you wish to pay in instalments, you will be required to pay 25% (£321.75) of the total fee on the day of enrolment and a Direct Debit mandate would then need to be completed to enable the college to collect a further three payments of £321.75 monthly. The payments will be taken on the date you choose on the Direct Debit mandate form.
Equipment fees
All students will be required to purchase chef whites and a knife kit, we will supply the information or how to do this, and the basic cost is £78.30

What will I study?

- Preparing, cooking and finishing fish dishes
- Preparing, cooking and finishing meat, poultry, and game dishes
- Preparing, cooking and finishing soups and sauces.
Entry requirements
The course is a part-time course for learners aged 19 or over only.
- GCSE English at grade 3/D
- One additional GCSE at grade 3/D
- Or extensive industry experience.
How long is the course?
One year.
How will I be assessed?
Your progress will be monitored and assessed through continuous practical assessments and through multiple choice questions to assess your knowledge.
