Introduction to Plastering


Our course is aimed at facilitating candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Plastering.

Entry requirements

This course is only available to 19+ learners.

No previous experience or skills are required.

Start dates and fees

  • If you are 19+ and unemployed and receiving relevant benefits – the course is FREE
  • If you are 19+ not receiving benefits the course will cost you £75

How long is the course?

The course will take 4 weeks, for a total of 21 hours and you will study in the evening.

How will I be assessed?

Practical assessment.

What does the course lead to?

Completing this course could lead to working as a specialist in a specific subject area within construction or as a maintenance professional, either employed or self-employed. 

Local employers in the area include council maintenance departments, housing associations and schools.

What will I study?

You will study how to:

  • Prepare background surfaces
  • Prepare the correct mix of plastering materials
  • Apply render scratch coat to internal backgrounds
  • Fix sheet materials
  • Apply multi finish to plasterboard background
