Introduction to Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Overview

This course enables you to identify the construction and configuration of different types of the Hybrid Electric Vehicle, and the main dangers and hazards associated with the high Voltage System when working on and around Hybrid Electric Vehicles. It also provides the knowledge to enable you to isolate the High Voltage system on a Hybrid Electric Vehicle to be able to work on them safely.

These qualifications could also provide the essential knowledge and skills for members of the emergency services who may attend an accident involving a high voltage hybrid vehicle.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Start dates and fees

The course starts on Tuesday 27th April 2021.

  • If you are 19+ and unemployed and receiving relevant benefit – course is Free
  • If you are 19+ not receiving benefit the course will cost you £75

How long is the course?

3 hours per week, from 5.30 - 8.30 on a Tuesday evening for 7 weeks (21 hours in total).

How will I be assessed?

You will be observed carrying out set tasks safely on Hybrid vehicles, your knowledge will be tested via a multiple choice exam.

What will I study?

You will be working in a live, state of the art motor vehicle workshop working on Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf Hybrid Vehicles, using industry standard tools and equipment to develop your skills and knowledge on these modern vehicles.

What can I go on to study?

Learners can progress on to the L2 Award in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Repair and Replacement.
