Diploma in the Introduction of Vehicle Technology - Entry Level

Overview

This course acts as a great introduction to the motor vehicle repair industry. You will learn from industry professionals in state-of-the-art facilities. Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress on to a higher-level programme.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE grade 1/E in maths and English.
  • Initial assessment and completion of four-week introductory course.

School leavers will be required to show their most recent school report, and show a high level of commitment, willingness and teamwork.

Start dates and fees

You will be expected to provide your own steel toe-capped safety footwear and overalls as well as pens, notebooks etc.

How long is the course?

36 weeks.

How will I be assessed?

You will complete a portfolio of evidence covering workshop tasks and related on-line exams and Phase tests for each topic you study.  You will also be expected to pass an exam for each of the two Functional Skills qualifications or GCSE English and maths.. You will be expected to take part in a minimum of 30 hours' work related learning.

What does the course lead to?

You will be able to access the Diploma in Automotive Maintenance and Repair Level 1

What will I study?

Health and safety, workshop practice, chassis and frame, engines and related topics.

Study programmes

It is an entry requirement for some courses to have gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths (see entry requirements). If the entry requirements to a course do not require A*-C in these subjects, and you haven’t already gained GCSEs A*-C in English and maths before joining us, you will continue to study English and maths as part of your programme and take appropriate qualifications in these subjects with the aim of achieving A* to C grade. In addition, to help you gain essential skills for employment, every student aged under 19 and studying a full-time course at college will take part in our study programmes alongside their main subject qualification.
