Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement - Level 3

Overview

This course enables you to identify the construction and configuration of types of Hybrid Electric Vehicle, and the main dangers and hazards associated with the high voltage system when working on and around Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

It also provides the knowledge to enable you to isolate the high voltage system on a Hybrid Electric Vehicle to be able to work on them safely.

These qualifications could also provide the essential knowledge and skills for members of the emergency services who may attend an accident involving a high voltage hybrid vehicle.

What will I study?

You will be working in a live state-of-the-art motor vehicle workshop working on Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf hybrid vehicles, using industry standard tools and equipment to develop your skills and knowledge on these modern vehicles.

Your tutors, all industry experts will share their knowledge and experience to help support you in your career development.

The content of this qualification has been designed to give you the knowledge and skills required to work safely on Electric/Hybrid vehicles whilst carrying out diagnostic, testing and repair activities. This may include vehicles that may have or had damage to their high energy/electrical system.

It contains two mandatory units EV2.2 and EV3.

EV2.2 covers all of the skills and knowledge from IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles Routine Maintenance Activities and EV3 covers skills in:

  • working safely on an electric/hybrid vehicle
  • using information to carry out the task
  • carrying out repairs on high energy electrical systems
  • recording information and making suitable recommendations

As a result of successfully completing this qualification you will acquire significant core knowledge and skills and the ability to remove and replace Electric/Hybrid vehicle high voltage components.


Entry requirements

  • Appropriate knowledge and skills in vehicle maintenance and repair at Level 3.

How long is the course?

2 days.


How will I be assessed?

You will be observed carrying out set tasks safely on hybrid vehicles and your knowledge will be tested via a multiple choice exam. 


What can I progress onto?

  • Level 4 Award in the Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles and Components
