Background

Originally from Mansfield, Sam lived in Nottingham whilst studying at university. He joined the Army Reserves at 18 as a soldier and has since been promoted to Lance Corporal. His role is a platform weapon operator on the Jackal vehicle, and he is training to become a vehicle commander, as well as undertaking the Army Officer Selection process.

Career highlight

In 2019, he had the incredible experience of being a part of Prince Charles’ Honour Guard during his visit to Bayeux on the 75th anniversary of D-Day. This included a regimental parade through the town as the residents supported.

Specialist areas

From his degree and personal interest, he has a great understanding of global affairs, particularly the Middle East, Russia-Ukraine, and South-East Asia.

Education

History and International Relations (BA Hons) - Nottingham Trent University. Post-Graduate Certificate in Education - University of Nottingham.

Interests/hobbies

A keen runner, Sam takes part in various charity run events. Through the Army he have also been skiing and parachuting, and he regularly enjoys mountaineering in his spare time.
